THE COMMUNITY ENERGY REVOLUTION AND LOCAL SUPPLY OPPORTUNITIES

Slide presentation from a talk given by Jodie Giles of REGEN SW to Newton and Noss Environment Group on 13 Dec 2016.  It explains how community-owned renewable sites like Newton Downs will in the future be able to supply local homes directly.  Note that this will require the new generation of smart meters which are about to be rolled out.  These come with a new communications system which makes them transferable when switching and is independent of household WiFi and mobile phone networks.  Ofgem is currently consulting on a date for introducing half hour price settlement for domestic consumers, which will enable the meters to be used for household demand management (switching loads to avoid peak prices).
